4wks old

These 4wks have gone by so quick, yet they seem like one big blur because of how tired I have been. Nights vary, but mostly Bronson will at least go every 3hrs for a feeding. Breastfeeding is still going wonderfully, just adds a tad bit more exhaustion! Derek has been home almost this whole time, and goes back to work tomorrow. I told Dreycin to please say a prayer for mommy tonight when he goes to bed that she doesnt stroke out tomorrow. Derek has been such a help, letting me sleep when baby sleeps. I have gotten both boys to nap at the same time in their cribs the last two days, so maybe if i can continue to work on that....it will earn me a 45min-1hr nap on some occassions! Dreycin has been alot more whiney lately, i dont know if its because we have had family who have left and gone home, or he hears baby crying/whining too? We were somewhat working on potty training this week, but Dreycin is totally NOT into it anymore. He did go to the bathroom on his own, and is holding his bladder to wear big boy underwear but it will be on his own terms. At the old rental house we had been going pee on the potty 3-4x a day....but I guess they are right about kids regressing when their are changes(new house, new brother)!

In other news, this week I began our adventures in cloth diapering. So far I love it, and its so easy. Some websites say that you need like $200-$400 to get started and that is so not the case. I think I spent about $100 on amazon, and started with 18 prefold unbleached diapers by osocozy, 1 bum genius 4.0 pocket diaper and two thirsties diaper covers(so far my favorite and you can reuse them throughout day just inserting new cloth diaper) and a package of bummis flushable liners (you line them on top of cloth to catch poop). Alot of people have asked me why, and in the beginning it was to save $$$ and decrease our carbon footprint by elliminating the full time use of diapers. I say full time because at night im still using disposables. But now I realize how much more comfortable a cloth diaper must feel on a baby's bottom, no diaper rash, and its so simple. Plus im a hippie at heart. We have had no leaks, but some major blowouts! All of which mostly caught on the flushable
liners. So far so good, and hopefully soon wont be using diapers on either boys soon!

Postpartum update: Im down to 180, started doing the elliptical this week and feeling pretty good about my body....except when Dreycin grabs my flabby tummy and laughs!!! jk I get a kick out of it too!i hope to keep finding time to do elliptical at home, then when I have my 6wk appt in a few weeks to start going to the gym! I cant wait to get a good sweat!

22mos

Yesterday Dreycin turned 22mos and it just seems like each month gets better and better with him. He is so creative, and his imagination runs like the wind. Im getting ready to go through the items he found on his walk with Abuela today, and I already know that one item is a huge rock shaped like a piece of pizza. My mom said he was carrying around that rock so happy because it was his "piezi." We plan on making a mod podge collage with what he found today. Dreycin could eat pizza every day, and not only that but he eats pizza with everything (supreme) on it! He is such a good eater~He weighs around 28lbs right now, and still has very wide feet size 7 (extra wide from stride rite is the only shoes we buy....and only when they are on sale).

At meal times Strawberries are choo choo trains And sausage turns into turtles. He says "attagada" or something like that when he doesn't know the word he is trying to say. He changes diapers on his babies and animals and then they go to his high chair to eat! He loves to love on baby brother Bronson, and will say "ok baby?" when he cries. If i tried to write all the words he says im sure it would be around 100. I love to hear him talking, his little sweet voice! He loves to "share with mama" and is always asking where daddy went "where'd he go?" Which usually ends up with me saying He's at work, and Dreycin says "cycle" because this last week we have watched as daddy backs out and drives his motorcycle to work.
Dreycin would rather count to 10 in Spanish than English! He also will repeat colors in Spanish!
He loves to sing Do Re Mi!! He loves all music actually!
He loves the car wash, and putting his hot wheel cars through the little car wash that attaches to his little car port.

I'm a little behind on doing the shutterfly books but got started on Dreycin's 15-22mos recently when I did Bronson's birth announcements. My plan is to have separate ones for each boy, alot of work and money but better for me than having a bunch of pics laying around the house!
Yesterday Derek and Dreycin made a pineapple upside down cake! He sat in his high chair and poured ingredients in the bowl, stirred the batter, ate some of the batter. He loves to sing happy birthday, and will blow out candles over and over. We did that on my bday, and then a few days ago again when we celebrated my bday with my mom, a little late!
Im sure that im missing some details but ive somewhat loss some of my memory lately!

1wk update

This week has flown by, cant believe I was beginning labor last saturday! I guess it does when you are busy! We definitely have been able to focus alot on Dreycin with family here, and he is adjusting so well to the new baby. It is truly an amazing love to watch grow between Dreycin and Bronson. Dreycin no longer sees or acknowledges anyone but the baby when he walks into a room, or wakes up from nap or in the morning. Dreycin will whine a little when im breastfeeding the baby, and he hasnt asked to breastfeed so yesterday I offered it to him and he said "No, yuck." Well fine then.....I guess he forgot he was a breastfed boy!
We went to Bronson's 1st appointment this week, and he was already back up to birth weight, weighing 8lbs 3oz. I was pretty pisted off the entire appointment, because we had been referred to this pediatrician Dr Twedt by families on base, including our insurance represenative on base.......but the stupid idiot dr (i want to call him worse things) asked me 4x to supplement??????????????????????????????????????????????
I was so mad, because normally a baby does not reach birth weight until the 2nd week. No wonder so many women get discouraged, its stupid pediatricians like him that do not encourage breastfeeding.  He kept saying well if "you need a break at night" or "let me just give you one can"......Are you f'ing kidding me, Derek cut the guy off like every single time and told him "No thanks anyways" and "My kids will never take formula." And let me just add that if there were some medical reason that I could not breastfeed, we would have to find an alternative like I would probably ask my friend Stefanie for breastmilk!! HAHA!! No really, im not dogging on those that cant produce, but the people that simply give up or are persuaded by others like their Pediatrician or generations who did not breastfeed is an uneducated decision on their part. Needless to say im finding a new pediatrician, and filing a complaint with our insurance. If anything it just makes me sad.
I just googled the breastfeeding report card state by state for 2011....
Georgia 27.1% exclusively at 3mos and at 6months 10.1%
Texas 30.1% at 3months and 13.5% at 6months.
Kentucky 24.2% at 3mos and 9.8% at 6mos.
Overall the top states that breastfed were California, Idaho, Colorado, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming. All these states had almost a 50% rate of breastfeeding at 12months.

In other news, Bronson has managed to pee on everyone and everything in the house. And as I was writing this he just managed to poop-squirt-explode on my mom, yesterday he did the same thing to her but it shot across the bed onto the carpet! my mom is scared to change anymore diapers. as for sleeping at night Bronson eats around 11, then between 230-3am, then again close to 6am......he manages to sleep between feeds which is awesome!!!!!!
Breastfeeding is great, its the engorgement that has caused me so much pain since wednesday. So i sent my dad to get a head of cabbage and also started cold compresses a few times a day. I also called the lactation nurse I saw in the hospital who suggested those things in addition to letting Bronson only finish off one boob then pump the other since it was obvious I am overproducing again. My other indicator was that Bronson was getting really really gassy, and sometimes that is caused by the baby not getting the hindmilk which has digestive enzymes to help baby digest more easily and stay full longer. Instead of eating every 2hrs we are eating every 3, he wasnt even making it to 1hr 50min. we are alot less gassy and fuller longer, and mama has gotten relief from the engorgement today, day 6!
Bronson is barely there in his newborn clothes, which I didnt buy any of since the drs were so adamant I would have a 9lb baby. Dreycin fit his for 1wk......and were all basically new unused. He isnt even out of newborn diapers yet, and we actually went and bought some more because the size 1 diaper he is still swimming in and pees out of! Seems as if he is gonna be my skinny and lean boy! I cant tell where his weight is coming from, because in Dreycin you could see it all in his face.

In the last two weeks Dreycin has had 2 firsts! 1st was going bowling, and the second was his first haircut!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with Jessica, a fellow Marine wife and friend of mine that takes fabulous pictures. I have a feeling they are gonna turn out really awesome! I cant wait to see them!
My dad left for Texas today, he got to stay a week, almost half of which we were in the hospital. I still cant believe I went into labor the night he got here. I cant begin to express the relief that Derek and I felt knowing that Dreycin would be with a family member he knew while we were in the hospital. Sad to see him go, but he was here when we needed someone the most. Kind of crazy how all that managed to work out.
