5Mos Old

Gosh, it seems like forever since I have written on here.....havent really had the time since we got back from Texas. I picked up some extra shifts and just havent gotten back into the mode of being mommy and working since our mini vacation! The biggest news i have is that we have officially transitioned Dreycin to his crib, he is doing pretty well until the middle of the night. He will sleep 10:30-3am, sometimes 4am. Then he wakes up and wont accept just the paci and a few pats on the butt to go back to sleep. So its usually getting up walking with him, rocking him, or bringing him back to bed with me. Yes people he will come to the bed with me after he wakes up, since 1. derek has probably already left for work, and I have to get up shortly myself to go to work. It works for us, and i get to snuggle with my sweet little boy! Derek has been obsessing about getting his stuff ready for Sgt's course in Quanico, Virginia, he'll be gone until almost July! oh the life of a military family....Next weekend will be our last weekend to spend time together, I think we may go to the Newport Aquarium in Cincinnatti, maybe see what kind of shopping is up there too! I also opened up Dreycin's first savings account, my plan is to put $25 from each of my paychecks. I figured it was time since he is now
5 MONTHS OLD! Ive also enrolled Dreycin at some classes with Gymboree, and May 1st we are signing up for swim classes for the summer, we wont start until June 1st! Im sooooo excited about it. I think Derek leaving is a blessing in disguise, because now I wont be signing up for extra shifts at my extra job, and will get to spend more time with Dreycin! He is just everywhere now, you cant take your eyes off of him especially in the living room....where we have cords, the elliptical, wood furniture......ughhh baby proofing is in the near future....like tomorrow!

Happy Easter everyone! I figured since Dreycin is small enough not to know what an easter basket is, we got him a jumperoo! he is loving it, and I will post a video later when I get home from work...yes im at work today Easter sunday just for 4hrs. We dont really have a church we got to regularly here, and since Dreycin is so small I figured why not work this holiday rather than Xmas! We may go to the zoo later today. anyways, last sunday I did take Dreycin to his first church service at our home church Firewheel Bible Fellowship, and for some reason was overcome with emotion throughout the entire service. In some ways Derek and I needed that sermon on power. It was excellent, i was sad we couldnt stay for the easter egg hunt but Derek had ppl coming over to meet dreycin already. Our trip home was wonderful, with the exception of a few mouthy individuals with DRAMA that needed to be put in their place. Suprisingly with all the good food we ate Derek nor I gained any weight, Derek is still 185 and im 170.....the key was sharing meals the entire time, eating healthy fresh fruit or veggies for snacks... While we were home we both went to my acupuncture dr in dallas @ CA clinic. WE got deep pressure point massages, acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments on monday and wednesday! we both needed it and so did my sis in law Sarah! I soooo much enjoyed are trip home, seeing all my friends(that are my family)and the Derek's family. Everyone was smitten with Dreycin because he was always smiling. The one thing that puzzled me was that everyone kept wanting to give him food(cheesecake?oreo shake? lime?)....i mean HELLO im solely breastfeeding, and isnt that taking away from the parents, like feeding Dreycin for the first time? Half the time i didnt even see people doing it, Derek would tell me and then i would be like WHY DIDNT YOU SAY STOP!? but anyways, while we were home little Dreycin really began playing with his footsies more and more! it was super cute. he also had his real first shall i say, clump of poop! it was much more solid than EVER before! i had to call Derek to come see it, we were both amazed. Funny how parents get excited about poop! This week we decided to try oatmeal a try, and the only difference is that Dreycin has stinkier farts and poops!? i just cant believe that he will be 5mos in just a few days! WOW! Dreycin is definitely starting to teeth, for some reason he gets fussy in the evenings and has been waking up frequently at night crying. If you just stick a finger in his mouth he will just chomp down while moaning, poor little guy. yesterday we put some orajel on his gums and 1x it helped the other it didnt. My mom seems to think it may be reflux, but neither of us are dr's so....GOOGLE will have to do for now. well if it continues we may go to the dr. in the midst of all this, we are preparing for Derek to leave for 2months end of april-to end/maybe mid june. He is going to Sgt course in Quanico, VA. Dreycin and I may come see him over Memorial day weekend! i'll post more pics from dallas, and the jumperoo video later!

Little D in the Big D

Just a few pics of us in the Big D this week, its gone by way to fast and we dont want to go back to Kentucky.....but thursday we are heading back. BTW Dreycin did so good on the direct flight to Dallas from Louisville, slept the entire time. He has really been a trooper being toted here and there while home. my favorite pics are the easter one and Dreycin standing up at Abuelo's with his uncle mark.

Awesome days.....

Yesterday I went to the gym, went and got my haircut, and then went with my mom to get some bubble tea. For those of you who have not had bubble tea, its the Asian culture version of starbucks and super YUMMYY!!! So far at VT's bubble cup I have tried the lavender and taro bubble teas, a friend of mine got an avocado milkshake that was reallllllly yummy too! Today I started off with giving Dreycin a bath, then we went to my acupuncture appointment. We decided to call Daddy and see if he wanted to meet us at Cherokee park to walk the trail after we got done at B'R Us. It was a beautiful day outside and not only did I get to spend it with my two loves, but got my 45min of cardio for the day! I finished up tonight with a pedicure, because Im looking so forward to wearing sandals in TEXAS!!!

March is national Social Worker's month.....thank 1

I went to an AWESOME social work ethics conference put on by Spalding university. Norton's in honor of National Social Worker's Month put this on for all the social worker's system wide. It reminded me of why I do what I do and why I follow the code of ethics of social work.

Take a minute, read our code of ethics.....just kidding its pretty long but no really it is the way we live in our professional and personal life, its the commitment someone makes when they become a social worker.

St patty's day & 1st time eating cereal!!!!

Here are some pics of my beautiful precious boy on st patty's day (the day of his 4month checkup) and his 1st time eating cereal. We made it really thin the first few days, and then today we made it pretty thick and he did really good! The last two pics are from our walk we went on tonight!

4mos well baby visit

Here's a picture of chunky little monkey!
So my baby boy is 18 lbs 4.5oz and 27inches long, which puts him in the 95% percentile. He was a TROOPER and I was smart enough to bring a bottle of breastmilk and popped that sucker in when he got the shots, and he didnt realize what had happened until the end and started wailing just for a minute. I picked him up and right away was comforted, we sat down and finished the 2oz's i had brought.
