Scary stuff.....

First I'll say I love this time of year, the beautiful autumn colors, the coolness in the air, and all the yummy comfort foods. Ive been hooked on soups from whole foods like chicken tortilla and southern corn chowder with fresh cornbread! what has been scaring me though is all this talk about the H1N1 flu virus. I already got my flu shot but am not so keen on getting this vaccination, only because there has been no research done on it. I was watching the news and the CDC said they had a group of staff ready to fly out if someone happened to have a reaction to the vaccination. Now normally I wouldnt freak out about getting sick, but I do work in a hospital and right now if there is anyone with suspected H1N1 they are put on contact isolation. Plus with Lupus, i have a compromised immune system already + asthma + being pregnant = would not be good at all. Recently we found out Derek's grandpa had the H1N1 (he's in Dallas)and he barely could talk to us on the phone his breathing was so bad. It seems to be spreading more rapidly in bigger cities, but still STAY AWAY if you have been exposed. My job has also sent out an email saying that if you have been exposed you can not work until after 4 days with no symptoms, and 7 days if you had symptoms. And if you have 2 or more symptoms off the list of possible influenza like illness you can not come to work. CRAZINESS....Recently when I go places, i try to go during non peak hours. Like last weekend we went and saw Cloudy with a chance of meatballs at like 5pm, and last night we went to whole foods at like 8pm and thankfully at both places it was pretty empty.

Elliot is here this weekend dropping his car off and all his belongings before he is deployed this next weekend. When I asked him about how he was feeling he said "I dont think anyone can ever be prepared for what I am about to go through." Its sad, but in the long run he made the best decision for him. He even got promoted to E4 Specialist on Thursday! It was funny because Derek was like "thats not fair"
In the Marines it takes twice, maybe 3x as much time to get promoted.

I can tell im getting closer, it seems as if im always tired and with a headache, which Im also blaming on the weather changes and my sinuses. It hasnt been so bad sleeping at night, just a pain to get switch sides when im sleeping or having to get up and go pee 5x a night. seems like as soon as I stand up I have to go pee now a days. I went and saw my acupuncture doctor yesterday and he told me he thought I had maybe 10more days, we'll see about that. My parents get here this week on Thursday evening, and my mom starts working on Oct 19th. My braxton hicks are coming more frequently and sharper, yesterday they were all morning and afternoon with no pattern really. Im wondering too if work hasnt been a factor in my increased braxton hicks. Although im only working 4hrs a day, I dont think this week one of those days i have been sitting. Im constantly on my feet, and have been completely swamped this week with complex mother/baby "social issues." We have been short staffed too which doesnt help me, especially when I have to weed out certain cases/patients to see in the 4hrs im there on severity of the case. At least my feet have not begun to swell, if they have its barely anything at all. my shoes were a little tight today, and i have greatly loosened the tennis shoes ive been wearing to work. I am going to try and start walking starting tomorrow, me and Derek have gone on some walks but not like i need to! I havent done any water aerobics in the past 4wks so i feel like i need to do something! My appetite is WAY UP, i could eat nonstop i feel like....well except when i have the braxton hicks going on i just want to drink water. yesterday i even had some ckn flavor ramen noodles because my body was screaming WARM and CARBS!

I love the weekends to sleep in!!! defn going to miss that here soon :)
