I'm definitely feeling the holidays coming, which means alot of time with my parents in SA! I've enjoyed being home these last 6 weeks, but have missed Derek terribly. But upside is that we talk thru iMessage every morning and pretty much every night FaceTime(or Skype or tango) whichever one works that night! I did end up having to find someone to come help me, but she was recommended to me from a friend's Aunt. She comes 2x a week for 2 hours and nannies for me, that's really all we can afford right now.
And I need that time to go to gym! I tried and am still trying to take the kids to childcare at the gym but mr B is not having and the most I can workout before getting called to get him is 20-30minutes! D loves the gym, and asks to go everyday! We have music class and D has tumbling class, plus our weekly library class. So we stay pretty busy! But right now all of us have some type of allergy/sinus issues and I'm losing sleep over D coughing at night :( I know that we have had some crazy weather lately and maybe we are becoming acclimated to Texas weather again!???!!
Anyway before I knew it, it was time for D's 3rd bday and I had less than 2 weeks to plan it. One of D's favorite shows is little einsteins, and he loves rocket. So I went with a rocket ship bday party! A lot of things were toy story related too, but everything I found was really cool & DIY! We also had a bounce house, vegan cake & cupcakes from Spiral Diner, and a rocket pinata! Will post pics later, but for now a pic of me with my babies!

213 days
Today it begins, 213 days until Derek comes home. At some point during our night he arrived in Afghanistan(even though he had left 9-28). He said he was tired, and needed sleep. This last weekend my mom helped me drive back to Texas from Georgia with the kids. The first day we did about 8hrs of driving & the second we drove 6. We stopped in Vicksburg, MS stayed in a la Quinta bc I have never had a bad experience there until this visit. I did not get sleep bc Dreycin didn't go to sleep until around 3am! And we woke up to no hot water! At least the boys got a bath the night before! So we had true bed head driving hair until we got to Dallas on sat around 4pm! Since ten it has been an uphill battle to get us organized in my parents house along with establishing a schedule for the boys. It's a work in progress but its getting easier. What's not easy is hearing my son D say he is sad. Sad that daddy is too far away. Sad that he says he misses his house. But I know being here near family and friends is what is best for us. My mom and dad play such a big part in the boys lives that i wanted to be closer! Just last night Dreycin had a hot date with my BF, it was so cute watching them hold hands and walk! And tonight Dreycin squealed with delight when his pappa K came to get him out of the car to go eat chick fila! He is loving being here, but all the changes have to be so confusing to an almost 3 yr old. On Monday he started soccer class, and Wednesday we had kindermusik! I also managed to go to gym for yoga on Monday and Tuesday, and again on Wednesday for weights and cardio. On Wednesday I also took the kids with me to go to the gym childcare, I only got in 40min but as time goes on they will get more accustomed to "mommy going to the gym!" After all I truly feel that the only way I can get through this deployment being a single parent is if I can workout & have that me time. It makes me feel like a better mom, feel good about myself and is so energizing! Anyways, I'm pretty sore haven't felt like this in a while! I've also seen my Chiro/acupuncture doctor 2x this week and he is fixing my "mommy syndrome" back! I am starting to relax a little more, yet I know I've gotta keep up the pace because we have 7months left! Oh and We already sent Derek a box so hopefully he will get his goodies now that he is just getting there :)

9 days left
We only have 9 days left in our house on base! This last month has flown right past us! This week we went up to Jacksonville to have Dreycin's MRI @ wolfson's Children's hospital and f/u neurology appt at Nemour's. We drove up on Sunday, had sushi on the river and got dessert at whole foods! Monday morning I had to call the nurse at MRI at 630 am for arrival time, and they told us to be there by nine. Our goal was to let Dreycin sleep as long as possible because he wasn't going to be able to eat until after procedure, and we were told our table time was gonna be 11am. Dreycin had a cough a couple days prior to the MRI and generally if a child is sick at all they don't do the procedure! Well I was convinced we were gonna be sent home, but they said he sounded clear! We were told after checking in that they were running 1.5 hrs late! Meanwhile I have Dreycin asking derek and I for a snack. It was so hard to tell him ok later baby :( but bc I'm a mom I decided I wouldn't eat either, so I would just bare through it with him. We didn't get the MRI started until 1240pm! Derek was pisted to say the least bc the staff has to know that these are kids we are talking about, and we can only tell them they can't eat for sinking until we have a totally foreseeable complete and utter Toddler meltdown!!!!he kept seeing chick fila cups & bags bc there was one in the hospital, and he loves chickfila! But we got by, and the only thing he didn't like was wearing the hospital gown! It was cute had whales and fish, but was itchy and flannel like, so I started telling him it was like Super Grover's cape and that's how we wore it until we went back. I had also chosen to put a pull up on D since who knows what could happen under anesthesia? Most of the morning was spent in a playroom, furnished by childrens miracle network. It had all sorts of toys, ride on toys, kitchen. But suprisingly Dreycin chose to watch Calliou, little einsteins, octonauts, and mickey mouse. We had also bought him a mobigo super cheap from target, but he wasnt interested. And B slept in my arms for an 1hr or so. About noon we were finally taken downstairs to MRI. I chose to go into the procedure with Dreycin, and once we were in there, there were about 5 other techs, drs, assistants and us two. But for those two minutes I only saw Dreycin looking at me, holding onto me wondering what was gonna happen. I held him and told him everything was gonna be all right and told him to breathe in the bubble gum smell aka gas mask with the anesthesia. He screamed, fought me, and I had to hold him tighter, that's when the nurse saw put her arms around me and Dreycin to hold us both. The doctors were telling me to sing to him, but i couldnt I was fighting tears and all i could say was im right here baby, your ok. Over and over again. Within 30seconds Dreycin was out, he was in my arms very limp, sleeping soundly. I laid him down, and they said Ok Mom, this should take 1hr and we will call you back before we wake him up. I really liked the idea that I was the last person Dreycin saw and the first to see when he woke up.when I laid him down the years flooded, but I knew I had to leave him. After i walked out the plan was to insert IV in Dreycin, they were going to draw bloodwork, administer an IV anesthesia for sedation, and contrast for MRI. During the surgery we were right outside the recovery room/MRI suite in a waiting room. We were the only ones waiting. I told derek I had to eat something or I was gonna pass out, and I'm serious because I had inhaled some of the gas just from being right next to Dreycin!
Imagine that child and mother passed out during MRI, but thinking about it they did tell me that it's often the mom that needs the anesthesia! And I wonder if that has accidentally happened before and that's why the nurse held me too!! Anyways we went to 8th floor cafeteria and got waters and the only thing I could find dairy free, baked lays. I wanted to get right back to waiting area. Did I mention how wonderful Bronson was all morning long! It was like he knew he had to be a good boy, better yet maybe he sensed it! He kept me smiling the whole time! Around 30min in one of the anesthesiologists was going to lunch and said that Dreycin was doing great! At 145pm Derek was like ok it's been an hour, so he went and asked them if he was done and they said we were going to be called back in just a minute. When I first saw him it looked like he was intubated but his nurse said that it was like a mouthguard for waking up from anesthesia, plus she mentioned he snored and this was useful for kids that snore during procedure to open up airways better. He started to wake up in about 3 min after we were back there. I got in the bed with him, and we laid there for about 15min. He drank some apple juice, had some animal crackers, but kept getting upset that he had an owie on his hand where the IV was!, we tried to wipe away blood but that made him even more upset. We were told that the rest of the day needed to be light indoor play, assist D with bathroom. We were discharged and walked straight over to chickfila to get my baby boy some food! He was extra whiny, irritable but that was to be expected after anesthesia. He only wanted me to carry him, which doesn't happen often anyways. After that we got in car to head back to hotel. Derek and I stopped at high tide burrito(very good) to get something quick. The joy of our hotel & hospital (and burrito place) is that it was all on same road within 2 min of each other! We went back to hotel but no one slept and Dreycin was calm for a few hours but quickly returned to the rambunctious toddler we know! So later that evening when we couldn't keep him from bouncing off the walls we went to the navy base walked looked around, then went and ate at whole foods. You would think the boys were tired but nope they were still egging each other on at 11pm! Meanwhile Derek and I are beyond ready for SLEEP! Finally they feel asleep, me in the middle with both under one of my arms!We woke up the next morning, got ready and went to Dreycin's follow up appointment at Nemour's. They didnt have the MRI results, and were confidant they were fine. They knew this would be our last visit before moving to Dallas, and told us they would call us with the results. In the meantime, if the breathholding spells got worse, or happened again to call them. So we left thankful that all of it was behind us, and it was done before the deployment. We went and had lunch again at hightide burrito, then headed over to whole foods for a quick grocery shopping of veggies and fruits! we were on the road by 130pm, and for the first 2.5 hrs both kids slept just like on the way up. THis is the time Derek and I had to talk about what we had left to do before deployment. Things I needed to do after he left, what to send, who to send the POA to etc. My laundry list keeps getting longer. Two days went by with no phone call, and Thursday morning the neurology clinic called. Dreycin's MRI had come back, and right when I answered the phone and she began to talk my heart sank. Turns out the MRI of the brain was completely normal, what is of concern is that there is a lack of blood flow (on the right side of his neck)from the vertebral artery to his brain. The vertebral artery supplies the brain with 20% of blood flow and controls coordination, gait, balance. So after the doctors met about Dreycin's case, they concluded that we needed to find a neurologist in Dallas and ask for another opinion and go ahead and get scheduled for an MRA which is similar to an MRI, but it looks at the blood vessels. So Ive looked at doctors, and found one nearby in Frisco. It will be one of the first things I do when we get to Dallas, finding doctors for all of us! The pics are from Bronson's bday shoot, and the last two are from Jax. Eating dinner on the river the 1st night, and Dreycin being "floated" down to MRI in a boat!

28th bday/12month update/labor day wknd
Wow can't believe it's been a whole year since I had B! And I'm 28! He is trying to talk so much lately! He signs eat, more, all done & milk. He says bye bye all the time, but ironically hates his car seat! has said all done, hi, mama, dada, aba(which we think is for Abuela), peppa( pepper). And of course he is babbling all day long, and tells us when his brother is doing something he doesn't like! He was wearing 18-24mos but now that he is EVERYWHERE he is fitting into those 12-18mos clothes! He wears a size 4/5 diaper. His Ocean ONEders party was a blast, we had a huge bubble machine, a crab piñata, and vegan cupcakes! I even made octopus lollipops from a organic brand of lollipops. I decided not to serve coke or juice at the bday party bc that is not our lifestyle any longer and thought it just didn't suit for B's bday party, given the journey we have been on this last year with his allergies. On my bday we made pizza at home and had some take & bake everything vegan cookies from earth fare. I didnt want to go out to eat & I didnt need a cake, just my sweet family together! Derek and I were talking about the last 9 months how we have changed our ways of eating drastically, and in a way Bronson saved us from eating our way to death! On my side I'm carrying genes that make me predisposed for diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and thyroid. I'm hoping that with diet and exercise I can change my genes. In the last 9 months I have lost at least 25lbs, and my husband about the same. We both go back and forth about 5lbs! I wear mostly a size 8, use to be a 12. I fit clothes that I wore in college & when we got married. Thinking back to when I gained weight was around the last deployment when I was in grad school. Spent about 3 days in the car driving two hours to school and two hours back home, most meals back in those days was drive thru's. And with Derek gone I barely cooked. I had 2 part time jobs, & one full time internship at a psych hospital! And with my internship i got free cafeteria food the days I worked....makes me want to puke when I think of what I ate there!! Anyways, can't let this deployment be an *excuse, I have to find time for me despite being a single parent for 7 months.....which is why I can't wait to get to Dallas and do more group fitness classes at Lifetime! We have a little more than 2 weeks here in Georgia, and I am so excited to be back in Texas! I am happy that we will be busy and that will make the deployment go by fast! We are signed up for kindermusik, Dreycin will be doing soccer shots and a tots tumbling class!
We took advantage of this long weekend and moved ALOT of our stuff! All that's left is the beds, w&d, 1 couch, table, toys, misc kitchen items and a dresser. We have 14 days left in our house, And then we will be in a guest house until derek deploys. My posts have been few & far between, so my next may be in Texas!!

It's upon us.....
Deployment is right around the corner and the stress of it is definitely getting the better part of us this week. We came back from gulfport with snotty noses and coughs, I swear it's because we are allergic to this place bc Derek isn't sick! And what was once a pile here and there around the house of things going to Dallas is now going to Dallas with Derek this weekend! I feel like I'm taking a lot but then again feel like I'm not taking enough! Ive packed many boxes, made two storage trips but feel like little progress is being made. At least I started out way in advance! I feel like I have been focusing so much on packing and moving, that I'm scrambling to prepare for B's 1st day on the 28th! We are having a bday party here for him next weekend, and pics the 23rd and family pics the following week! I am kind of nervous about having to make B's vegan cake but I'm gonna practice and make one for my bday next week, yes I'll be 28 on the 22nd! This is such a stressful time that I just wanna celebrate the time we have together, but so many things running thru our heads of lists.....things to do, change, etc. how the boys will do with daddy gone. I about lost it the other day when we were driving to MS I had the boys watching the sesame street deployment DVD and as I heard what they were watching about Elmos dad having to leave little tears filled my eyes, and I was just glad I was not watching it with them :/ because I would have probably broke into a hysterical misfit of crying! Which I'm sure eventually will come upon me too...

Preparing for deployment
This post is all over the place.....These past few weeks ive been packing, selling, giving away some of our stuff! We had a garage sale made a little over $200! There is a huge baby and home consignment sale coming up that I'm putting baby stuff in. We have secured our storage, paid the 1st month and sold Derek's other motorcycle(he had 2)! I'm so glad I will barely have to take anything to Dallas, very fortunate to have a fully furnished house, kitchen items and all! I will be taking my kitchen aid mixer though!
Dreycin is in the "I can do it my own self" stage! He is loving music class and I hear him singing most of the day, which I absolutely love! He likes to sing Take me out to the ball game and The more we get together! We also started a mommy & me Zumba class, which is awesome bc not only does he get rhythm but this mama gets a workout too!! I was sweattttty after the last 2 week's 45 min class!!! Dreycin asks to go bowling every weekend, its one of his favorite activities to do! This weekend we went bowling on base and did the blacklight bowling 1 game & it was $6! Bronson bowled (rolled) his first ball and bowled a strike!! Guess its in the genes! We have a sitter coming 2-3x a week right now, mostly the days I have yoga (bc I get really frustrated when Derek forgets or has to work late) and to help out Friday mornings with the kids & B at Zumba bc he shakes his booty but isn't able to move around very much. Dreycin really took a liking to her quick & B doesn't cry when I leave! B has been sleeping in his crib in his room for a little over 2 weeks! He sleeps thru the night most nights but this week he has woken up 2x bc he has two bottom teeth coming in! Can't believe my baby B will be 1 in 1 month! He is waving hi, giving slobbery wet kisses, trying to run.....oh yes he is walking! It's been busier having two very active mobile boys! Bronson is giving high 5's, throwing rolling and kicking balls, and messing up any activity that his older brother is doing! And that boy can put down some food! He eats everything now except dairy, egg, and meats. He loves all fruits, and in the last week has tried homemade pizza and spaghetti squash which both were big hits! Tonight he even tried some yuca I made! He really likes to take the fork or spoon and fee himself now, along with making a mess at every meal time!
We are heading to Gulfport for 7 days this coming weekend to spend some time with my dads sister & her family, we usually try to get together at least a couple times during the year and especially now that Derek is being deployed. I can't wait to relax, shop, eat, and did I mention relax ;)
Now that the deployment is less than two months away I am having alot of different mixed emotions. One for sure is that I know this is the most ideal and safest deployment we could ask for as a military family. Derek will never have to leave the base and for that reason I know in my heart I will not worry like the last deployment. I know this will be hard on my boys and I hope being around their grandparents will help ease the pain of the father being gone and not understanding. I pray for lots of patience because who knows how hard this will really be with 2 kids. I am happy that the 6mos I will be in Dallas we will be busy taking so many educational trips to the zoos, aquariums, bouncy house places, music classes, soccer classes, gymnastics classes.....you name it we will prob try it! And I'm happy that my parents, my friends and family and Derek's family will get to know the boys more, get the quality time that they dont get to have since we have always lived so far away. I am sad to leave our house on base but not sad to leave gnat & allergy filled Georgia! I'm still undecided on where we will live when Derek returns from deployment. I could care less if we are in a 1 bdrm apt as long as we are together again ;)

Whirlwind
The last two weeks have been so busy, we had Dreycin's 2 appts in Jax, my mom came to visit, we had a yard sale, and I'm slowly starting to pack up things we don't use everyday and declutter!
1st on Dreycin's dx we were told that he has a combination of both pallid and cyanotic breath holding spells. There is a chance because of his actions during the spell he is having a seizure less than 1 minute, and for that reason his dr is ordering an MRI. Children usually outgrow these spells between age 4-8, and we believe his stems from pain or traumatic event. This is completely involuntary on his part, so for that reason we have no idea when they will happen. It may happen with a minor fall, or it may not. Our MRI and f/u have been scheduled for Sep 10 & 11th, which is really close to Derek's deployment date and if I have to I'll just have to manage the 3.5 hr trip by myself with both kids. But come deployment time the kids and I are moving back to Texas. With Derek being gone, the boys issues, & my lupus....I can without a doubt say I'll need the support of my parents, family and close friends. We had the yard sale to get rid of some stuff because we are putting everything in storage except for a small trailer of stuff I'm taking to Texas. I'm looking forward to being home, doing lots of fun activities with the boys to stay busy while Derek is gone. Right now we are not sure about post deployment if we will move back to Georgia, I'm thinking if we move back it will be to Florida probably Tallahassee. So we are moving forward and I'm starting to plan B's 1st bday :)

As the week leading up to our EEG approached I was so emotional, I think this last week has made our current situation/future become a harsh reality for me being alone with the kids. Anything would get me teary eyed this last week. We left for Jacksonville on Thursday evening, and that morning afternoon I was running errands with the kids all morning! Two dr appts, library class, oil change, and lunch!
Earlier that morning my mom was suppose to be on a flight to Panama but was told she could not fly international because her passport was within 3mos of expiration! None of us knew that rule! So we talked about her flying into Jax, Fl to meet us and stay with us for a while.....and that's what happened the next day she met us and is staying a little over a week! We spent the morning at the zoo, the tech had called the day before and suggested that we bring him in ExhAUSTED! So we kept him up until midnight woke him up at 7am, and had a blast at the zoo! He fed the giraffes, saw the elephants, made bird calls like the storks, saw an anteater for the first time, and really got a kick out of rising the train!! B man loves animals and also had quite the adventure, but did fall asleep the last hour we were there! Then came time to go to Nemours Children's Clinic for our appt, the staff was great but the EEG is not meant for small children. Dreycin and I laid on a large hospital bed. I physically had to hold him down for 40min for the nodules to be placed on he screamed cried and kicked the entire time. The lady kept apologizing to me saying I was taking on a majority of the appt, but whatshe didnt know was that it was taking everything I had to not cry with my baby. I just kept saying we are almost done and you wont have to do this again, I'm so sorry.....over and over. He kept saying the tech was hurting him :( and he was sweating profusely, which made it harder for nodules to stay on so she started wrapping his head with gauze. I had brought the IPad with us to make it easier, which it did. We watched a spider bedtime story and watched the read to me version of Toy story 1. He was still crying on and off after the nodules were put on, but not as much like when they were getting put on. By this time I noticed he was getting really drowsy so she asked me to turn off iPad and see if we could get him to nap. She turned on her sound machine and he was out in less than 3min, I think the crying wore him out but he was also laying beside his mommy and I was hugging him very tight! The tech had to get 3 readings, awake, falling asleep, and waking up. When it was time to wake up Dreycin he was not happy once again, he did not want us to take off nodules or even touch his head :( and he had a Vaseline gunk all over his head that I pretty much left on. Wasn't worth making him cry more. We left, and we're getting off the elevator and there was my mom, Derek, and B waiting for us. While we were in test Derek & B went to pick up my mom from airport, a very impromptu visit but I'm glad she is here. It took Dreycin just a few minutes to warm up to my mom, and he has been attached every moment since! The next day we spent at St Augustine Beach, and made some great memories! We went and visited my Aunt & cousins who live in Jax and then on Sunday I made one last stop to Whole Foods for a massive grocery trip! Then we headed back home. As I'm finally finishing up writing this we are driving back to Florida for his second appt tomorrow. But first we are making it a beach day at Fernandina Beach about 45 min from Jax! We have to take advantage of getting out of Albany and enjoying new places! As we drove down here I researched more about Dreycin's condition and now have quite a few questions for the doc, and actually found a center dedicated to research on breath holding spells in Houston. The more I research the more I am convinced D has a vagal nerve dysfunction due to his symptoms. We will see what the doctor says, but i just hope they have the time & patience for all my questions.

Updates
The other night Dreycin and I were walking home from getting the mail and we were playing red light stop green light go while running in the grass, and when I would say green light go he would yell really loud "I love picking strawberries" over and over each time we would green light go! Makes me want to take him to the berry farm every weekend!!
We also really like the song from Madagascar I like to move it move it, it even gets B dancing! The other song that is popular with the kids is the song at the end from despicable me!
Bronson is standing for longer periods by himself, he even has said a few more words! He says and signs more, and even said Elmo the other day! He loves the Elmo spoon while e eats! He chews on everything, and has been drooling alot! He loves to turn pages in books, and now will sit thru readings of a few books! He is growing so fast! I'm starting to plan his 1st birthday!!! Ohhhh where did the time go! I'm thinking for his 1st bday he will get a pottery barn chair (bc he loves Dreycin's) and a few other things? They are constantly both trying to fit in the chair and usually Dreycin will give up and get out of the chair! We went browsing at toys r us last night for ideas :)
Bronson had his f/u in Macon this week with his GI doc and it was our first great visit. He was really happy that he has gone since April 1st with no blood, and we will have him retested a little after he turns 1 for allergies again. Dd I mention that Bronson has had reaction to eggplant and we believe cinnamon? The doc us completely set that our B is very sensitive to foods and we need to be extremely careful not to reintroduce those foods that he is allergic to or has had a reaction to for fear the 2nd time it will be very dangerous for B. but all in all we continue to F/u with him.
This week we have Dreycin's EEG procedure 3HRS away....and until last night I was avoiding looking up information on it. A few things the clinic told us was that the procedure is sleep deprived so he has to be up for 7hrs prior, no problem there bc it's at 230pm and he has skipped naps plenty of time before. No caffeine or high sugar content food items, no problem there either. Only 1 parent can go into procedure with child. Until last night Derek said he would do it, and now I've decided it will be me. I carried Dreycin in my womb, he is apart of me and I want to be there for him. He is my baby and I can't help but feel miserable that all this is going on to him. So in addition to reading all the paperwork I decided to look up videos on YouTube about children and EEG's. What I learned was that the procedure is 2hrs, and the 1st hour is just putting the nodules on the child's head, after that the head is wrapped in gauze and a series of tests are done. This is my child who at the age of 2 has had an EKG and 2 surgeries that included anesthesia, I can't help but ask why. And most of all why now when we are facing so many changes in the next few months.

Father's Day
We had a wonderful weekend, we went to Tallahasse yesterday did some grocery shopping at Earth FAre and Costco, ate some good food. Today we went to Berry Good Farms in Tifton, a u-pick berry farm that does not spray their berries just 40min from where we live.! We all had blue hands, and I dont know if Dreycin ate more blackberries than we actually picked! It was a breezy day, not very many gnats. Dreycin got to see the guineas, chickens, and goats. Then we went and ate decent Mexican food, and stopped at a donut store for dessert. Dreycin and Derek went to the movies this afternoon to see Madagascar 3! Im sure ill have two worn out boys by dinner time! Our new pic is from the berry picking today! If you have never gone to berry pick, go to pickyourown.org and find a local farm! Its lots of fun, and tasty!

Switching hats....
Being a social worker has many benefits but when you are dealing with your own family it's hard to switch hats. Ive been really thinking about how and what materials to use for Dreycin to help ease the deployment. I want to be counselor yet I know I need to be mommy. My fear is that he won't understand, and writing that brings tears to my eyes. I have read fantastic ideas about calendars, videos, flatdaddies, daddy dolls, build a bear, and tons of books ive seen on amazon!
And my first instinct is that I want to do them all(social worker) but then I cry when I really start to think about having to explain Daddy being gone(mommy)! I will eventually find my happy medium. I'm also staying busy googling things to buy for Derek to take....digital camera bc he obviously isn't gonna want to take my pink canon, sheets, towels, webcam, grooming stuff, pics of us, plus I'll have the help of his brother Elliot who is actually returning to Germany from a 1yr long deployment in Afghanistan this week! Oh and I already have given the cleaning lady a heads up for while he is gone, lord knows I am not gonna spend time cleaning! She is a military spouse who lives just down the street! This month we are also going to try and go to a deployment brief/class. We have to do power of attorney, family care plans, and find time to get me a new ID.
Aaaaaand my awesome Aunt(dads sister) found out Derek was deploying and jumped on booking a beach house vacation for all of us aug 4-11th to spend time together before he leaves! We are going to the gulf shores! Can't wait!

Deployment
So the news came late Friday afternoon, Derek's package was denied and he would have to extend his contract for 22mos here in good ole Gnat filled Georgia. We were really hoping to leave the south, but obviously our plans were meant to be this way. Derek's plan is to put another package in for Chief warrant officer before he leaves for his deployment to Afghanistan in October. as much as I wish he didn't have to go he does, we have been very fortunate that he has not had one in 4 years and we knew it was inevitable that we would see one sooner than later. He has not missed any births, or first Christmases, and we are lucky he will be here for B's 1st bday! We plan to celebrate Christmas/bdays(his and D's) in September before he leaves. I will of course probably head to Texas for a few trips while Derek is gone to not drive myself and the kids crazy!!
I just wish we weren't in the middle of nowhere and had to drive so far for doctors, Costco, organic groceries! The thought of being here for 22 more months is pretty depressing actually.
I don't know how I'll manage everyday with both kids, frankly it's a little worrisome. I can barely eat in the mornings yet alone cook an entire meal, do laundry, clean, take a shower, without the boys needing something or getting into something! I know ill be getting a zoo & aquarium memberships now! But the next best thing I can think of is that maybe a nanny or private school wouldn't be such a bad idea for Dreycin just part time? So that I could have Yoga, or run errands, my dr appointments, or just me time? Is that selfish, no not at all because if mom's not happy nobody will be happy.
Update on Dreycin, we have two appointments scheduled at Nemours pediatric Neurology Clinic in Jax, Fl. One for an EEG and a separate one for dr to evaluate. So that means two 6hr trips for us, two Fridays at the end of this month for us! Thankfully there is base lodging and we are getting a decent rate to stay, bc there is no way we want to drive there and back in one day. We will eventually get reimbursed by our insurance, but they are about 5 months behind on travel claims. We are still waiting on one from B's appointment in January! So I hope they figure out what is going on so that I don't have to make too many trips by myself while Derek is gone.
Farmers market is one of the few things I've been happy about here lately! Here's a pic! And one of B eating an apple, which is great for teething!!!!

Icing on the cake
After a weekend of Dreycin having a fever we went to ENT on Monday AM and sure enough he had a double ear infection. The tube on the left is working so the infection is draining out, but the other ear the infection is inside the ear :( we spent the morning getting meds and came home and he slept most of the afternoon. That evening him and B were playing and he knocked his head into B's back and had another seizure like episode. I was in kitchen making cookies, and I heard B start to grunt like Dreycin was bothering him and I went over and Dreycin cried for a second, I picked him up and I noticed his lips going blue and then he became very pale and his eyes dilated mouth clenched arms flailed in jerky movements and then he went completely stiff.when I first noticed it was happening I screamed to Derek it's happening again as I had him in my arms and ran over to the couch with him. Now each time this happens Derek feels the need to come over and take him out of my arms, he told me later that he just can't stand there watching him like that. Dreycin remained stiff in his arms. I was talking loudly to him saying breathe Dreycin breathe, and he came back and went straight into crying. It is so scary I just want answers at this point. I did find many websites that suggest a diagnosis of pallid breath holding spells (google if curious) which seems like what he is having at this point. It can sometimes be caused by cardiac issues or anemia. We have been referred to Nemours Pediatric clinic in Jacksonville, Fl it's 3 hrs away which is a bummer but there is a naval base there we can get a room at for the night. Don't have an appt just yet but I don't doubt they could call and say Friday and I would say ok! My mind as a mother goes crazy searching for answers on the Internet, reflecting on every single piece of his medical history. Including the fact that I carried an anti RO antibody that sometimes cause heart murmurs in children of lupus patients or the fact that he was watched so closely in utero for hydrocephalus, and the last two surgeries he was given anesthesia. You go back and think about every detail, questioning everything. I feel sad, helpless, and a lot of time cry when I think about it. I worry it will continue to happen. One concern I didn't even think, but Derek did was sports. How will he play sports if every time he falls or bumps his head he has an episode?
No more runny noses, congestion, coughs, they are both doing much better. Dreycin doesn't have the best appetite on the antibiotics but definitely can tell he is up for playing more!!!
Our house here on base has been downsized a room, they are trying to see if there is a leak from a drain under the house! A lot going on this week, at least Derek is off and here at home helping me for a few days!!!!!
The Pic with the gate up and D in the chair is the room that is being worked on! And D wanted to take a bath where b did in the sink so we let him! And In the background my pretty sunflowers that I got at farmers market this past weekend. A pic with them playing at the water table in the garage thanks to the gnats and D with his moto helmet.

Tired
It has been a crazy 2wks. The boys have been sick, with coughs congestion runny nose and fever the entire time. Last weekend B had the fever, this weekend it was Dreycin. Plus he had puss and drainage coming from his left ear this AM so its off to ENT tomorrow. I have mostly done natural remedies with the boys, saline, steam in bathrooms, organic chest rubs on feet and chest at night, hylands vit c plus cold tablets, and of course Motrin for fevers. Dreycin gets honey shots of lemon and honey if he is coughing alot. A Comment was made to me that I should only keep my kids around other healthy kids and I about flipped my sh*t, and then I realized that person doesn't know me very well. I am a clean freak, especially with my kids. If I see your kid has a runny nose, I'm wiping my kids hands with hand sanitizer and taking them to wash their hands And then I'll be leaving very fast, or making sure our kids don't play together. I don't expose my children to alot of kids/people for that very reason! People don't care about getting your kids sick! B has had so many health issues I just can't risk it, more so him being sick.
so I came to the conclusion that
1) Dreycin got sick either at his daycare 2 thursdays ago that he was only at for 1.5hrs and probably
2) picked up some additional bug at church that following sunday
Awesomeness......I've been covered in snot and very tired for the last two weeks. Makes me want to go back to work...... I mean.....,hello why am I thinking that because they would be sick more and then I would probably get fired for having to take time off to take them to all their appts. Derek says its overwhelming the amount of appointments the kids and I have, and I say no kidding you try making them and keeping them :)
In all this sickness we have managed to find some cute moments!
The other day I was asking Dreycin for the magic word(please) and he yells Surprise!!! And he was so serious it was so cute! He is also really into whispering at times. His fav new shows, which he only gets to watch in long car rides(more than 30min) or in Am if I wake up extremely tired and/or need to feed B first thing is Little Einsteins or Super Why. He is really into singing and has even been singing ABCD, AbCD next time won't you sing with me! He is also starting to ask what's that for? What does that do?
Aaannnddd my little B man is clapping!! He really has picked it up in the last few days! We had his 9 month checkup and he weighed a little over 22lbs(he lost some weight from being sick) and was 28 1/4 inc long! Ears look great, he looks great, although the pedi and Derek and I seem to think we are still having some GI issues with digestion, sometimes he screams and cries like he is in alot of pain and the only thing any of us can come up with is that he is having issues with the small amount of solids he is eating? We have our appt toward the end of the month with the GI doc. He is also teething, bites me and Derek so hard that he leaves deep teeth marks on our skin. And no teething toys don't work, we have tried them all! Mashed frozen blueberries work sometimes! We have to be careful B doesn't bite Dreycin too, which he has a few times but we have caught it right away bc we are so close!
As for our Eating habits, we have been doing really good! I have been going to farmers market every week getting fresh vegetables, local farm to table as they call it! We are eating alot of veggies right now! The last of our freezer meat is gone and all we have is fish and our faux vegan meat! And all that we buy at farmers market is for so much cheaper than the supermarket! I've been reading alot about macrobiotic diets and one of the concepts is to eat local, what's in season in your area. I've also been making fresh lemonade since the boys have been sick, Dreycin loves it with a little honey warmed up! This week im going to experiment with rhubarb lemonade, maybe? I also bought some herbs thanks to pinterest that I'm growing in the windowsill, hope I can keep them alive! I repurposed some old vases and large glass jars that I had saved. This weekend i have been working on CEUs for my Kentucky social work license, have to stay licensed somewhere until we figure out if we are gonna stay in Georgia or not. If we are i will go ahead and applyto get my license here too! I wonder at the end of Derek's career in the Marines how many different states I will be licensed in?!! We also spent most of the afternoon (naturally with vinegar & water only) cleaning every toy in the house and all the furniture!!! After all this sickness is gone I really need a mani/pedi and a haircut! I have been managing to make it to yoga 1x a week these last two weeks, which has helped me keep my sanity for now!

After all this sickness is gone I really need a mani/pedi and a haircut! I have been managing to make it to yoga 1x a week these last two weeks, which has helped me keep my sanity for now!

My Uncle
A few weeks ago, i think it may have been mothers day? I was talking to my mom and she conferenced in her sister who was screaming, thefirst thing that popped into my head was that she was hurt and needed help(flashback to my parents robbery) but how were we suppose to help her she lives in Canada. I was so scared i couldn't even talk, my mom was calmly (she has middle child syndrome) trying to ask her how we could help her what was wrong and she just kept crying until she said Jose tiene cancer. My moms brother who lives in Panama. His name is Jose and he was recently diagnosed with appendix cancer after having an appendectomy. Please keep us in your prayers & thoughts, we will know more this coming week. He has four beautiful daughters, wife, and grandchildren and it hasn't been easy for any of our family especially my grandparents. Part of the Panamanian culture is to find natural doctors or "brujas" and knowing what I know today about plant based diets being able to reverse almost any disease in the body, my mom and I are on a mission to provide him with the knowledge and supplements along with conventional medicine of chemotherapy. He has already found a natural dr through a friend who had cancer, an has recommended to him a cocktail of aloe juice and other natural ingredients. Sometimes you can't help but wonder why. But then sometimes I know the things I have been through have made me stronger and appreciate life more. But still why.

I didn't mean to hit brother....
That's what I heard from Dreycin tonight as he was brushing his teeth. And he proceeded to say I don't want to sit in time out, I didn't mean to hit brother about 3x in a row. All day he was picking on Bronson trying to sit on him, pushing him, but in Dreycin's defense he has not been feeling good coughing & runny nose. I will be the first one to say I am not a nice one to be around when I'm not feeling good, and the other reason he may be a tad bit upset about is that his Daddy thought he would do something cool and give him a Mohawk for the summer well that turned into a full shaved head :( I was so livid and upset......after Derek shaved my dog a few months ago I told him not to go near him again I should have added the boys on the don't touch list!!!! So I will anxiously await for my baby's hair to grow back and well it's a good thing he is really into hats right now!!!!
In other news B man is standing up for a few seconds on his own, pushing a shopping cart around the house, walking all along the couches, and even trying to climb up the stairs (and can get up the 1st step but can't get down and the gate is on the second stair)!!! He also has a cough, but not much we can do for him, I'm just breastfeeding ALOT!!
We have had a lot going on in the last week/weekend, went to a music class farmers market and found some awesome local chemical free growers!! Went to a new restaurant called our daily bread where they sell local and organic produce! Tried a new non denominational church which was something we had been looking for but was hard to find here in a mostly Southern Baptist area! Dreycin wasn't too crazy about going to toddler room and even cried for a minute :( but Derek snuck by 2x to make sure he was ok during the service and he was playing away!! Ended up feeling like it was a very short weekend, and even shorter week! Derek has had duty, but we had our USMC company family day yesterday which I volunteered for. We are looking forward to relaxing this weekend, I'm almost done with laundry bring on the weekend!

Big Boys
I've got two little boys on my hand that are anxious to grow up on me!
Dreycin is potty trained no more accidents and is obsessed about being outside constantly despite the gnats! He is wearing 4t, and also currently obsessed with his crocs that have light up buzz light year and Mickey mouse! He still eats really good, lots of veggies and his new favorite food is blackberries(thanks to my mom). I don't buy them bc i don't like them but my mom gave him some in Texas and he was hooked! Dreycin loves to drive B around in his Ford power wheels truck and mustang! They have really just begun to play together! It was one day last weekend, and started at the train table then we moved to the water table! It's been really cool to see their play evolve! Now D gives B toys and says come on B crawl, crawl!
Bronson is around 23lbs still has grown a whole lot bc this boy is on the move!!! He is crawling everywhere, stands for a few seconds unsupported, has figured out how to climb up the first stair, walking with the shopping cart all over the house! He is so close to walking! Scarrrry! He is saying MAMA very clearly, Dada, dag(dog), he(hi), buh(bye and waving! Sometimes he says de de de and I think that may mean Dreycin but I'm not sure! He is definitely saying more since his 1st ear infection cleared up! He still has fluid but we are going to monitor instead of rushing into tubes. I declined to treat B with antibiotics and his body with a little of my breastmilk drops in his ear was able to fight the infection! We also used an ear oil relief by NOW foods and placed a warme up onion under his ear 1x while he was sleeping to kill infection. I couldn't tell you what exactly worked but on a Friday they told us he had a double ear infection and by Monday it was gone! I love homeopathy :))))
Bronson loves animals, we went to the Riverquarium last week and he loved seeing the fish, birds, & turtles! He starts blabbing away it's so cute! He does it with dogs too!! He has eaten
Pears, mangos, blueberries, rice, (asparagus by accident thanks to D) beets, peas, and organic rice rusks & sweet potato puffs!
We started a music class this weekend which was awesome! Both boys really enjoyed it and since it's on the weekend Derek got to enjoy an activity with them! Farmers markets have also started around here and I've been fortunate enough to find a few local farmers who grow completely chemical free + local = awesome! Got some fresh greens, kale, potatoes, zucchini, squash, bread, tomatoes, onions, and little pecan pies for the Dreycin! To top the weekend off we tried a new church ere in Albany called Providence church, it was refreshing from what I usually see around here. Nondenominational contemporary, newer worship music, Derek and I both enjoyed it, D cried when he went to toddler room at first but when Derek went to check on him he was fine (both times!) B stayed with us during the service, but I can foresee us having to utilize the nursery very soon! I guess you could say my mind was very preoccupied during sermon today, my mom's brother was recently diagnosed with appendix cancer and him and my family in Panama were weighing heavily on my heart....for a lot of healing, faith, forgiveness, strength, self control. All of which were mentioned in sermon today.
In other news I've been weirdly sick for the last 3 wks, I had this awful pressure in my head, at times stinging to the brain like when you go under water and it goes up the wrong way to your head but this happened when I would bend over. That accompanied by sore throat, ear pain, and drainage....I went to the dr a few times and finally when they said they didn't know what was causing it I went to my allergy doc who did an X-ray of my head and told me I had a really bad sinus infection and mucus was causing inflammation. Since I've probably had this since I was in Texas I'm taking the antibiotics they gave me but not the steroids. They wanted me to take the steroids for like 2wks, and I just can't do it. I can't do that to my body. I'm already killing everything good by taking the damn antibiotics :( but as I told my mom I am a totally different ball game when it comes to my medical issues I have to treat fast and efficient since my body does not like to fight infection. I will probably call allergy doc and see if I can take a 5 day pack of steroids instead of 2 wks! So in meantime we are still waiting for re enlistment package, Taking this place one day at a time. Derek has duty for two weeks....over the holiday weekend. BOOOO....oh well :/ it's a paycheck and our life for now!

Gnat City
So yesterday morning we r walking back to our house after playing with a friend Dreycin says to me, "mom I just ate the bug"! I calmly stop and say open your mouth spit it out please. The damn gnats have already started here in south Georgia. It's so sad because both my boys love to be outside but the gnats make both Derek and I kind of angry mean people......they buzz in your ears, in your eyes, and especially on your head. It's like they are attracted to sweat? It's awful. Please think of us we are still waiting on Marine Corps Headquarters about Derek's reenlistment package. In the meantime we have been working on potty training D, which has been going so awesome. We cut the diapers out cold turkey (best decision ever)the day after we got back from Texas. I had been telling D that when we got back to our house there would be no more diapers! He has had accidents, mostly #1 and a few #2 but one night he didn't make it for a #2 and Derek didn't see it on the bathroom floor and he got it all over his feet after he slipped in it!! Freaking hilarious!! Potty training is so frustrating yet so rewarding in the end. Derek & I also are dealing with a very crabby teething 8mos old! Poor kid seems like he is getting teeth wayyyy faster than D! I mean today he was so crabby I thought about finding a job.....yes I was seriously contemplating it. I need more time to sleep, rest. Right now it seems like I have been sick for 4wks, so I Went back to the doctor and they can't figure out why I have a sore throat, ears aching still?!?! It hurts to eat and swallow :( so I've been eating soft foods, and vegan powder superfood drinks. I think with the traveling to different allergy areas has really done a number on my immune system. I'm trying to boost it back up with some liquid vitamin c probiotics and aloe Vera juice. I'm easing back into yoga, not really concerned with my weight right now but I'm floating between 154-156. I feel really good about my progress especially after being home and people noticing. I even bought a size 6 shorts from Banana Republic while at home! And wore a dress from my master's degree graduation in 2008 to a wedding!!! If I haven't written about Texas, IT was AmAZing! I felt "recharged" coming back to Albany despite feeling crummy. I guess I needed a little dose of the city :) anyways, funny thing is this last weekend we took off to Tallahassee again. I had to restock on groceries and we went to Super Target and their mall at governors square which was nice! We also took Dreycin to an outdoor park called Tom Brown and the after grocery shopping we went by the mall so he could play at the indoor play area. Annnnnd we ate lunch at a bean restaurant called Sweet Pea! It was yummy :) we had a great weekend away from gnat city!
