Late night
Derek and I had been sleeping like all afternoon. We woke up, were watching TV and i went to the bathroom, wiped and had light bleeding. I have never seen two men move so fast to get shoes on, get keys, etc. In the midst of me freaking out, crying alligator tears, my wonderful husband and dad rushed me to the UofL hospital delivery/triage. I threw up the whole way to the hospital, and it was pouring rain. it all happened so fast, i went to registration bypassed the ER and was wheeled upstairs. Once in triage the resident came in and explained that she would be doing an exam to check my cervix and then an ultrasound. the doc said that my cervix was long and closed. The ultrasound showed good movement from the baby and 160bpm. I was so relieved, and overcome with joy when i saw my baby's heart beating away on the ultrasound machine. Later on the Attending came in and reassured me that bleeding in pregancy happens to 25% of women. For me, i know WAY to much due to working in a hospital mother/baby unit and know that the numbers might be a little higher than that, but oh well me and baby are fine. The doc said they also found protein and blood in my urine, which at this point the protein is probably due to my lupus and kidneys spilling proteins. I had tried to get in to see my rheumatologist this week bc my OB had also recommended I see the rheumy due to finding protein in my urine, but with Derby, i wont be able to see him until monday at 11am. Can you believe Derby is like Xmas here in Louisville.....louisville basically stops to worship the Derby! Too bad im on bedrest and we couldnt make it to our first Derby this year....but there is always next year, and the next! In the meantime this AM i went to see Dr. Brown who was able to put me in a state of complete relaxation and take away some of the joint pain/swelling ive had for a while. for now it is REST for me, and the more I think about the next 6moths (WOW, only 6months left) I find myself leaning towards staying home with my miracle baby to cherish every moment.
